Nature
The High Cost exhibits extreme natural variation. Nowhere else in Europe can you find som many kinds of rock formations in such a small area, and the display of flora is equally magnificent. Hill and inland plats mix gladly with coastal vegetation, and the species' latitudinal growth limits freely overlap on another.
Culture
Many artists, writers and somposers have been inspired by the special light and the equally special landscape. There are many exhibitions and other cultural experiences to indulge in here in the summer.
Food
Fermented Baltic herring (surströmming) is considered a local yet national dish; its fragrance generally divides people into two camps - haters and lovers. The "surströmming" premiere traditionally takes place on the third Thursday in August.
