Surströmming tasting, local tradition & scenic views

We depart from the port and cross the impressive Höga Kustenbron, stopping at the viewpoint to admire and photograph the bridge and browse for souvenirs. Our guide accompanies you throughout the journey, sharing insights about the region.

We continue to Utsikt Höga Kusten, a mountaintop viewpoint where, on a clear day, you can see across the World Heritage landscape — from Skuleberget to the High Coast Bridge below.

This remarkable site was made accessible by a local man named Sven, who built the 4-kilometer road so that his daughter Nina, who had a disability, could experience the view. Sadly, she passed away before the road was completed, but it now allows everyone to enjoy this extraordinary panorama.

At the summit, we are served surströmming — the fermented herring delicacy for which the High Coast is famous. Served outdoors, you will learn about its history, preparation, and taste it in a way that is approachable even for beginners.
