Description

When the power plant in Ramsele were being constructed 1953-58 about 7 km of Faxälven were drained.
Räbbstugeforsen became a "dead fall" and hundreds of so-called potholes was exposed from the water swirls. Potholes develop in the rock by the force of the water that puts sand and larger stones in motion. The unevenness of the rock material will swirl and grind out cavities. The phenomenon can be studied in the old river canal on a length of 200m. The potholes are up to 2,5m in diameter just as deep. Call Ramsele tourist center for more information.
