Description
On the meadow above the harbour, Storhamnhålet, lies the red chapel, with its bell in a ladder behind a fence with a gate. The bell bears the inscription "Guten af G.F. Svedberg. Gefle".
The spartanly decorated chapel with its whitewashed walls and ridged roof can accommodate around 100 visitors in its narrow pews. Through two windows on the southern long wall, you can get a view of Hamnbacken and the houses towards the lighthouse at Skagsudde.
The altar window offers a view of the open nature with a forest edge under a sky that changes from time to time. The gaze glides up to the altarpiece from the 1800s. A painting on canvas depicting an angel alone watching over Christ in Gethsemane while the disciples innocently slumber, unaware of the menacing Roman legionaries appearing in the background.
