Örnsköldsvik Church
On July 1, 1907, Örnsköldsvik parish was formed. It had previously belonged to Själevad. Örnsköldsvik's church, designed by architect Gustaf Améen, was opened in 1910.
Description
Above the main entrance of the church is a stone relief, depicting Christ "the sun of grace, so glorious and gentle", surrounded by the old evangelist symbols: the lion (Mark), the angel (Matthew), the eagle (John), the ox (Luke).
The church's current interior dates from an extensive restoration in the years 1953-1955.
The choir painting: "The Great Feast" is performed in al secco technique by Sigurd Möller.
The altar ring: by the artist and sculptor Clarence Blum.
The pulpit: in white oak marble carved by Per Palm. It has been paid for through money donated by Ingeborg and Ragnar Kempe.
The baptismal font: is carved in granite by A F Berg. The votive ship that hangs over the baptismal font is a gift from Gillis Grundberg.
Chapel of Wonders: In the chapel you can see the series of windows "Miracles of Jesus", the sixteen medallions painted by Otte Sköld.
